Clean Water Committee Invests In Restore the Beds. Restore the Bay.
CWC's program looks to educate residents, visitors, and local businesses on ways they protect our seagrass beds. Through education and outreach, small actions can create a lasting impact on our community and environment.
Investing in Community Education & Environmental Stewardship is all about making clean water education easy, engaging, and part of everyday island life. From boat ramp signs and kids' coloring activities to local business partnerships, stickers, social media, and community outreach, the program finds fun and creative ways to turn awareness into action. Learn a little. Share a little. Make a big difference.
A Community Investment in Clean Water
Protecting our waterways starts with education. This initiative designed to bring environmental education into the places where residents, visitors, families, and local businesses interact every day. The goal is simple: Educate. Engage. Inspire Action.
Restore the Beds. Restore the Bay.
The first focus of the program is Restore the Beds. Restore the Bay is a community-wide educational campaign centered on protecting our local seagrass meadows. Healthy seagrass beds help clean our water, provide habitat and food for marine life, protect shorelines, and support a healthier bay. The campaign connects those benefits with simple actions people can take to help protect them.
Education Where It Matters
Education shouldn’t stop at a website or social media post. The program has installed educational signage at the 63rd Street Boat Ramp Park, placing information about seagrass protection directly in front of boaters and visitors.
Educational posters will also extend the campaign into local businesses, helping make clean-water education visible throughout the community in the upcoming months.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Environmental stewardship starts young. The Restore the Beds. Restore the Bay. Kids Coloring Campaign will provide coloring activities and crayons through participating local restaurants, giving children a fun way to learn about seagrass, marine life, responsible boating, and protecting our bay.
The program includes delivering crayon packs to local restaurants help bring this educational experience to local families.
Small Stickers. Big Impact.
The campaign includes promotional stickers designed to help spread the mission throughout the community. On water bottles, vehicles, coolers, and everyday items, these materials help turn environmental awareness into something people see and share wherever they go. Stickers will be available at City Hall and at local businesses.
The CWC's investment in education and stewardship is a recognition that lasting change starts with people — with understanding, with connection, and with the belief that what we do every day actually matters.
Expanding Our Reach
The program connects in-person education with a larger digital outreach effort. Islanders 4 Clean Water will continue providing weekly educational content through social media, expand online resources through the Islanders 4 Clean Water website, and use print and digital advertising to introduce more people to the campaign and encourage them to get involved.
Educate. Engage. Inspire Action.
A sign at the boat ramp. A coloring page at a restaurant. A poster at a local business. A sticker that travels throughout the community. A social media post that teaches someone something new.
Each is a small investment in something bigger: a community that understands its connection to our waterways and knows how to help protect them.
Together, we can Restore the Beds. Restore the Bay. and protect what brings our community together for today, tomorrow, and generations to come.
